Pokhara, Chamber of commerce and industry is an autonomous, non-profit making, non-government business membership organization. It was established on 25th magh 2011 B.S. by the group of merchants, so before it was called merchant association. But later on people started to establish industry at pokhara and to include induuustryalist too in this organization the name was changed and kept, pokhara chamber of commerce and industry (PCCI). The main objective of forming this organization was to help the merchants of pokhara and develop the education of pokhara. But later on it expanded its objective and helped to develop health services, transportation, communication of pokhara.
Pokhara is main desination place for tourist in western development region. Tourist can go to Annapurna, mukthinath, mustang, palpa, dorpatan, panchase, palpa, and lumbini from pokhara people come to pokhara not only to enjoy the natural beuty but also to climb the mountain for adventure.
Pokhara chamber of commerce and industry has also played a vital role to develop tourism in pokhara, PCCI played a vital role to build tourism office and to well maintain the airport of pokhara.
PCCI had helped financially to build a view tower in kahu mountain. PCCI had built a cemented bench on the camping side. To develop tourism in pokhara, PCCI had helped financially to organize street festival and Jau hai pokhara, PCCI had conducted some meeting for Nepal tourism year and also had conducted program in Bombay for tourism in pokhara. PCCI had conducted a cultural program in street festival. To develop tourism PCCI had helped financially to celebrate world tourism day. PCCI also helped by making poster for Nepal tourism year.
PCCI was well known that to build tourism, city must be clean too, so PCCI had also tried to keep the city clean. PCCI had held meeting too for cleaning the city. PCCI had helped financially too for cleaning the city. PCCI had helped financially to clean the fewa lake. PCCI helped financially to build public toilet in kahu mountain. It also helped to build drainage in Gairapatan.
Before some year there were not any place for seminar or some big program. So to make some relif PCCI. (2040 B.S) build a confiess hall on its own building. Which had a capacity of 480 seats. But later on it was not sufficient so, with Nepal government PCCI build dependra confiess hall which has capacity or 1309 seats.
For tourism of pokhara PCCI has done a lot, like.
· It helped financially to build bridge in mahendra pool. Also it helped to collect donation for bridge.
· Later on when the bridge became week PCCI broke it and helped financially to rebuild it. Also helped to collect donation.
· PCCI also helped to build bridge to join nayabazar andf Ranipauwa, Hemja and lamachur. And also in sisuwa.
· PCCI played a vital rolef to build prithvihighway, Siddhartha highway and internation airport in pokhara.
PCCI helped Nepal Chamber of commerced and industry to buy the land for their office and also helped Rs 111111 / to build the building. PCCI helped financially to build the building of chamber of commerce and industry to Rautahat, sinduli, Jaleswar, mustang lekhnath too. PCCI provided loan with 0 % interest for one year to Gulmi, Parbat and Lekhnath.
